Summary of career pathways
As a Water Industry Worker your work will be outdoors (field-based), maintaining Unitywater’s network of water and wastewater assets.
The Water Industry Worker program has five progression levels, from entry level to frontline supervisor.
Throughout your career as a Water Industry Worker you can gain nationally recognised qualifications and the ability to grow your knowledge and skills in the water industry.
On-the-job training is provided for the following qualifications and licences:
As a Graduate on our program, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills for the future. The program is offered for a period of two years and involves rotations across multiple parts of our diverse business.
As a graduate, you will:

- complete team innovation projects
- access formal training programs
- attend networking events
- participate in transformational leadership development
Graduate positions are offered in a range of professional disciplines including engineering, finance, business and IT.
We offer trade apprenticeships for Electrical, Instrumentation and Control and Mechanical Engineering.
Are you looking for practical, paid work experience over the university summer holidays? We employ a number of undergraduate students at the end of each year for a 12-week placement.
In this program, you will work within a professional team over a four-day week, learning and gaining industry-based experience. Applying the skills and knowledge gained from your studies you will have the opportunity to make a positive contribution to a project or program of work.
This program is open to university students enrolled in an undergraduate course.
Are you a student currently studying at university, TAFE or high school? We have people in our team who are willing to provide you with hands on experience in your anticipated future career!
We have had students working across teams such as engineering, finance, business, trades, civil construction, administration, customer service, science, legal, contract management, communications and marketing and project management.
Placements are unpaid, however we offer you a great opportunity to learn from our expert team and experience our dynamic workplace.

The Unitywater Scholarship in Civil Engineering (Environment and Water) is offered to full-time students in their third year of Civil Engineering through the University of the Sunshine Coast.
We provide the opportunity for students to undertake paid vacation work during their third and fourth year of study with the opportunity to continue into our Graduate Program.
The Scholarship is paid in instalments over two years (A$5,000 in semester two of third year; A$5,000 in semester one of fourth year).
